I am a successful artist, author, and instructor.
Most of my gallery work was shown at Wadle Galleries Ltd. in Santa Fe, New Mexico. With the death of the owner and closure of the gallery I am currently not affiliated with another gallery. My traditional oil paintings are represented in collections nation wide and in Europe.
I authored Digital Character Design and Painting: Digital Character Design and Painting; the Photoshop CS Edition: Digital Character Painting Using Photoshop CS3: Advanced Painter Techniques: and Coauthored Ballistic Publishing’s Digital Painting 2.
My work has been featured in the Painter Wow series of books from version 6 to the current edition, Electronic Step by Step Design, Art International magazine, Spectrum 7 , and Spectrum 8. I was a Judge for Ballistic Publishing’s Painter book.
I have demonstrated Painter several years at Siggraph for Corel. I demonstrated digital painting in the Siggraph Guerilla Studio. I have taught numerous digital painting workshops for the CG Society. I have been a regular speaker at the annual Game Developers Conference. I travel regularly giving lectures and workshops at institutions as diverse as the American Medical Illustrators Conference and Disney.
I have taught at the university level for 23 years. Most recently I was the Illustration Program Coordinator at Utah Valley University. Prior to UVU I was an adjunct instructor at Brigham Young University. I teach both traditional and digital painting classes. In the past I have taught online undergraduate and graduate classes for the Academy of Art University online.
I was the Art Director for Saffire Corporation; a video game developer and Art Director at Imagine Learning; an ESL software developer.
I am on the Corel Painter Advisory committee and have been for a number of years. I have been a beta tester for Adobe Photoshop and currently beta test for both Corel Painter and Silicon Benders Sketchable app.
When I have free time I enjoy riding my motorcycle and fly fishing with my son.
